There are a few changes to the airport this year and we wanted to let you know about them as soon as possible.
New Airport Hours
We’re changing the hours of operation for the airport this year. The new hours are 6:00am to 7:30pm PDT each day during the event. No more trying to guess or search for the civil twilight times. No aircraft may depart or land at Black Rock Municipal Airport outside of the normal hours of operation without advance approval from airport management.
Tickets will not be sold at the airport this year
There will be no ticket sales at either the airport or the main gate this year. You must arrive with a ticket in hand for each participant otherwise you will not get in. Tickets are still available online here: http://tickets.burningman.com/ . If you haven’t purchased yours yet I highly suggest that you get them soon. We will, as always, have Will-Call to pick up tickets at the airport.
New Airport Fee Structure
We have also changed the airport fee structure. We’ve replaced the fee of $40 per aircraft with a fee of $20 per person. So, if you’re arriving by yourself your fee will go down. This $20 per person fee is for any participant that comes through the airport gate the first time during the event.
BLM Permits Required for Air Charter Operators
Also, as mentioned in the earlier post, all air charter operators must obtain a Special Recreation Permit from the Bureau of Land Management. For more information see the previous blog post or go to the “Want A Flight” section on this site.
