Fees & Donations

Since 1999, an Airport Fee (or landing fee) is charged to partially cover the costs of building and removing our airport. The fee is a sliding scale, with the minimum well below actual costs. Please contribute more if you can afford to do so. This option is also available for donations from non-pilots.

We’re past the deadline for pre-payment and we’ll be happy to collect your contributions when you arrive at Burning Man.

“Based aircraft”, where the pilot is a burning man participant, must pay a minimum of $40. Our average costs per based plane are well over $100, so please donate more if you can.

We also request a minimum of $10 from each person arriving on a charter flight, or driving in and camping at the Airport as a theme camp fee. These fees and donations will be collected on the playa.

Your contributions go to pay for items such as:

  • Runway Preparation and Markings
  • Shade for the Terminal Building and the Phoenix Bar & Lounge
  • Windsock frames and poles (we get free windsocks from Nevada DoT)
  • Batteries
  • Generator
  • UNICOM services and other radios
  • Fuel for volunteers to attend meetings and vehicles used on site
  • Pancake Breakfast (Thursday morning during the event, be there)
  • Satellite phone rental
  • Office Supplies
  • Baggage wagons
  • Internet expenses
  • Wristbands
  • Decorations for the Terminal and Bar

and much, much more
